Quickstart Guide for Employees

Your UniAccount is your digital identity and thus the central access to all IT services of the university, especially to the UniNetwork.

In combination with your UniAccount you will receive an email address with initially 2 gigabytes of storage space.

Via a VPN connection (Virtual Private Network) you establish a secure connection between your computer and the private network of the University of Kassel.

The document management system (DMS for short) at the University of Kassel enables completely electronic processing of processes as well as the processing and filing of digital and digitized documents.

With the eLearning platform Moodle, students and lecturers can easily and conveniently exchange materials, dates and information about their courses. Moodle is operated together with the Service Center Lehre (SCL). For questions regarding courses or operation, please contact the SCL.

With the Hessenbox you can exchange data with third parties in a data protection compliant manner, e.g. in projects, research and teaching. The data should also be synchronized between devices.

The card for (almost) everything - borrowing books, paying in the canteen or scanning and printing study documents.

The ITS provides access to the Internet via WLAN, usable at all university locations and beyond.

eCampus offers numerous services related to your studies, such as registering for exams and events, changing your contact information, and viewing your re-registration and fee status.

With "Follow-Me-Printing" you can pick up your printouts at any central copying system. Likewise, you can use the central copying systems for scanning.

Students and employees of the University of Kassel have the opportunity to install Microsoft Office Professional on private computers (notebooks, desktop PCs) free of charge as a result of the University joining the Campus-Bundes-Rahmenvertrag (EES).

The IT Service Center operates a Linux cluster for
scientific applications with high computing and
storage requirements. The Linux cluster is a network of networked computers running a
computers running under a Linux operating system with an
access computer and computers for actual job processing,
on which the application programs run.
